Spain Silence France to Reach World Cup Final in Stunning 2-0 Victory
Spain have booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final after producing a superb display to defeat France 2-0 in the semi-final in Arlington, Texas. Goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro ended France's hopes of another World Cup title and sent La Roja into their second World Cup final in history.

When the final whistle echoed around Dallas Stadium, one team collapsed in celebration.
The other stood in disbelief.
France arrived as one of the tournament favourites.
Spain left as deserved finalists.
In one of the most complete performances of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Spain defeated France 2-0, producing a masterclass in composure, possession and clinical finishing to book a place in Sunday's final.
Spain Strike First
The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute.
Young sensation Lamine Yamal danced into the French penalty area before being brought down by Lucas Digne.
The referee immediately pointed to the spot.
Up stepped Mikel Oyarzabal.
The Spanish forward kept his nerve, calmly sending goalkeeper Mike Maignan the wrong way to give Spain a deserved lead. It was Oyarzabal's fifth goal of the tournament and a reward for Spain's bright start.
France Never Found Their Rhythm
Didier Deschamps' men struggled to impose themselves.
Despite boasting stars like Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Michael Olise, France rarely troubled Spain's organised defence.
Spain dominated possession, controlled the tempo and limited France to very few clear-cut opportunities.
Adding to France's problems, defender William Saliba was forced off through injury during the first half, disrupting an already unsettled back line.
Pedro Porro Delivers the Knockout Blow
If France still believed they could mount a comeback after halftime, Spain quickly ended those hopes.
In the 58th minute, Dani Olmo carved open the French defence with a perfectly weighted pass, allowing Pedro Porro to finish confidently and double Spain's advantage.
The goal sparked wild celebrations among the Spanish supporters and effectively put the contest beyond France.
Mbappé Kept Quiet
Much of the pre-match attention centred on whether Kylian Mbappé could inspire France to another World Cup final.
Instead, Spain's disciplined defence frustrated the French captain throughout the evening.
Mbappé struggled to find space and missed one of France's best late opportunities when he sent a free-kick over the crossbar.
For one of the world's most feared forwards, it was a frustrating night.
Spain's New Golden Generation
This victory was about much more than two goals.
It showcased the remarkable balance of Spain's emerging squad.
Lamine Yamal once again demonstrated why he is regarded as one of football's brightest young stars.
Rodri controlled the midfield with authority.
Dani Olmo dictated attacks with intelligence.
Oyarzabal delivered when it mattered.
Together, they outplayed one of the strongest teams in the tournament.
One Step Away From Glory
Spain now advance to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final, where they will face the winner of England vs Argentina.
France, meanwhile, will play in the third-place playoff after seeing their dream of lifting another World Cup come to an end.
A Statement to the World
Before kick-off, many experts viewed this as a tightly balanced contest.
By full-time, Spain had removed all doubt.
Their passing was sharper.
Their defending was stronger.
Their finishing was ruthless.
On one of football's biggest stages, La Roja delivered a performance worthy of champions.
Now, with just one match standing between them and football's greatest prize, Spain will believe that a second World Cup title is within touching distance.
