Abia First Lady Empowers 600 Widows With ₦30 Million Business Grants

The wife of Abia State Governor, Priscilla Otti, has provided financial support to 600 widows, giving each beneficiary a ₦50,000 grant to support and expand small businesses.

The intervention was announced during the state's commemoration of International Widows' Day 2026 in Umuahia, where the First Lady highlighted the importance of economic empowerment in helping widows achieve greater independence.

According to her, justice for widows should not be treated as charity, while economic empowerment should give women the opportunity to become self-reliant and build sustainable livelihoods.
